Required Documents Checklist

  • Salary Certificate: Form 149 provided by employer showing gross income and tax deducted.
  • Bank Statements: Statements for all active bank accounts covering July 1 to June 30.
  • Withholding Tax Certificates: Tax deducted on mobile bills, electricity, property transactions, or vehicle registration.
  • Wealth Statement Details: Assets owned (property, vehicles, cash, gold) and liabilities as of June 30.

Who is Required to File in Pakistan?

Under Section 114 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, filing an annual income tax return is mandatory if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • Annual income exceeds PKR 600,000 (Salaried individuals).
  • All registered companies, corporate entities and Association of Persons (AOPs) operating in Pakistan.
  • Own a motor vehicle above 1000cc capacity.
  • Own immovable property with land area of 500 sq. yards or more in urban areas.
  • Registered with a Chamber of Commerce, Trade body or Professional Body.
  • Anyone who already holds a National Tax Number (NTN), even if they need to submit a "Nil" return for having zero taxable income.
